Bio/Statement
The driving force of my creative energy is surface. This momentum is manifest in my use of texture. I often begin paintings with a collaged canvas of painted or printed images, blueprints, or even handmade papers. As I add the oil paint, each brushstroke becomes a methodical display of internal logic and formal value. The results of these efforts are accessible paintings free of symbolism that are a pleasure to live with. I strive to illuminate the beauty of seemingly ordinary objects.
